And some distros, like Solaris and SuSe, also have a "rcS.d" directory that runs in addition to, and before, the run-level.
rcS.d is not a runlevel. It is the equivalent of rc.sysinit on other distributions/flavors or, should I say, and expansion of that idea.
0 - Halt 1 - Single User 2 - Multi User (No NFS) 3 - Multi User 4 - Reserved 5 - Multi User (Graphical, originaly XDM) 6 - Reboot
The processes started at each runlevel will differ, of course. Not all machines will run httpd on run levels 2, 3 and 5. But none should run it at run levels 0, 1 or 6.
