rpm -qa | sort > ~/rpmlist
that puts things in a much nicer order. Basically from the sounds of things you've got multiple versions of multiple packages installed. It's not a different problem, just on a much larger scale. Johnny Hughes linked to a bug report and an issue covered in release notes you should consider reading, and also the information in the thread "Yum update crashed, now I have lots of missing deps". I suspect karanbir is referring to the rpmmacros text I gave you, so don't go hunting around too much for that. you already have it.
Mostly it sounds like you've got a fair amount of rpm commands in your future for each of the duplicate packages.
