I suppose had this been a 4 -> 4.1 -> 4.2 -> 4.3 this would be different.
---- no - this is the way it is designed to be used and it is reasonable and expected to not cause any problems - just as the upstream system does.
It is much more sane to update via yum than to download the latest set of iso images and use anaconda to update, without considering the waste of time, downtime and cd media.
