Is it mounted or just providing the mount point? Does df show it? If not, do a mount /media/usbdisk . Does that help?

You're right. I mounted it and it works fine. Any idea why it wasn't mounted directly? It creates the usbdisk folder under /media when I plug it in, but never mounts it. If I unplug it, the usbdisk folder goes away.
