Is there a way to copy it to a hardware RAID 1 array of two drives in a similiar way?
The same way? The underlying OS knows nothing of the physical geometry behind a hardware raid controller. Find out what dev it is, sd? and do what you did, so long as it's exactly the same size or bigger.
Would going from a single 500G sata to two 500G sata drives in hardware raid 1 work? Just wandering if some space will be lost using raid 1?
