I thought I'd let y'all know that, courtesy of http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/, the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 (IPW2100) mini PCI adapter on my ThinkPad R40 now works under CentOS.  I had to compile and install the hostap driver, the Wireless Extension and Tools, and the IPW2100 driver itself.  You do not need to compile a new kernel - the stock kernel works fine though you do need to: a. install the kernel source b. generate a '.config' file, and c. make a single, small change to '.config'.  The docs as provided by the project website provide all the cooking instructions you'll need.

I had tried to use ndiswrapper previously but it caused X to freeze anytime an application tried to use anti-aliased text.  No problems with ipw2100 thus far, but I'm not very familiar with the actual use of the tools yet.

The laptop does not restore from suspend successfully with the ipw2100 driver loaded.
