gparted and if it is the system-partition a Live-CD with gparted

Excuse me, the source hard disk is a second hard disk connected to usb drive . The actual scenario is the main hard disk is my centos machine and the second source hard disk connected to usb port and the target is the third hard disk connected to usb port. Is it still necessary to use gparted with live cd or there is another simple procedure for this scenario? In the meantime, If I want to format the target hard disk with the same geometry as the source hard disk what can I do to accomplish that ? Thank you
