- You're not using the proper package name for bind, up2date is just
more braindead/forgiving about it. On RHEL/CentOS systems it's called 'named'.
This isn't as clear as I could have made it. the rpms are bind-chroot, bind, bind-libs, bind-utils and bind-devel. You weren't clear enough in your yum-fu, or the package was already installed.
Once it's installed on your system, the process is 'named', so 'service named start' etc.
