Are you sure about that? Note that when switching to a text console from an X session, you have to use [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[Fn] instead of the [Alt]-[Fn] you'd use from a text console. From a text console, you can switch back to X with [Alt]-[F7].
Yes, Im pretty sure. I have used runlevel 5 since I started with linux 4 years ago. Ctrl Alt Fkey is ignored, or if an xterm is focused a "P" is displayed.
