Go to Fire Fox prefs | applications | then find | PDF Document | Set it to Use Adobe Reader in FF.....
He s/b good there, that's one of the 1st things I suggested he check (not as specif as you, just check all those settings). IIRC, he has that set already.
Mine says "PDF file" and says "acroread".
