Hi,
I think I have found the problem. It's rather annoying. My host is a vps hosted at alfahosting.de. They have migrated my guest to another host system recently as there seemed to be problems with the old host. By migrating they seem to have messed up the RPM package database and some other things that seem to be filesystem related. That really sucks. I have opened a support ticket with them and told them what I think about such an amateur service.
I really hope they can restore the state of my host to the way it has been. I have backups of the most critical configuration files and data but I lack the time to set up another host from scratch right now. It's a hobby, not a job... And I was depending on them to do THEIR JOB right...
regards and thanks for the ideas,
Tobias
