well - for CentOS there is only one state where you should be - on the "latest".
Sorry, you seem to not have dealt with enough managers who only really know Windows, or other divisions (esp. ones that are 95% Windows) who require documentation, etc....
<humor> I normally dealt with managers that coordinates the team members and the objectives. Version numbers are handled by the team members and not by the managers - but thats company specific ... </humor>
