.ssh needs to be 700 authorized_keys needs to be 400
chmod 700 .ssh and chmod 400 authorized_keys

Now I will copy this to my notes and later go back so I can relearn my 'permissions' (yeah, I know all it is is an octal bit map, and I DID cut my teeth on a CDC6500 !)
