It's been a little while, but I believe you'll have to play with /etc/issue to get the installer to run.
Close, it's the /etc/redhat-release file you need to monkey with. The PSP installer is expecting to find a specific string in that file telling it what version of the distribution is in place. I saved the old one and replace it with the single line:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
After installing the PSP I put the old one back.
Using the PSP is *much* easier than installing the various Proliant linux utilities piecemeal.
Amen! Figuring out which packages to install by yourself can be a bit confusing!
