phpMyAdmin is just a .tar.gz which contains files and directories. It is not a program source code, in the sense that you don´t have to configure and make it. You just extract it inside your /var/www/phpmyadmin (or equivalent) you configure Apache to recognize this directory if needed.
¿Is this package provided in official CentOS repos?
