In my opinion it is unnecessary. I subscribe both list. Im interested only in i386 announcemnts so far.
Let's please *not* through all that again. See http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2005-March/003941.html - and the announce-digest should be easy to filter out with any mail client.
