Perhaps you have a file whose name starts with a . in the trash, i.e. a "hidden file".
how can I reset that flag, where/whatever it is?
Right-click on the trash can, select Empty Trash.
Thanks Frank, but I've already done that (just did it again) and it doesn't help.
Your Trash directory is under ~/.local/share/Trash
