I've installed it with success on a DS3000 too .. but i didn't use LARA ... I've mostly (i've changed some parameters though) used the informations provided here : http://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/DS8000_/_CentOS_5_/_VNC_Install
Did you install 5.0 or 5.1 (as I did)?
