But despite that unistalling ipw3945 message, wireless worked, or it seemed.
ipw3945 has been deprecated. You want to use iwl3945 instead. Please follow the instructions on this CentOS wiki:
Ooops, Well that one slipped past me. Later tonight I will head over to the wired cafe here (they have a whooping 8 wired drops there!), and switch drivers.
