Is there a reason why the ia64 download directories for
v4.4 are populated
with links to 4.3? (And why the torrent files for v4.3
ia64 don't work?)
IA64 is not the arch you're looking for. That's for itanium2 processors and the like. the x86_64 is the one you want for opteron boxen.
You are correct, I was looking in the wrong place.
