Hi,
It looks like the installer has its own JRE that requires libXp. Just install it using. yum install libXp
Thanks. That was the clue. The software installed without a problem, then the viewer started. I tried setting it to ttyS0 and to ttyS1, but ttyS1 didn't see it at all, so back to ttyS0. The only problem was that it always said that the UPS was disconnected. Finally, after a long session of trial and error and browsing the manual, I spotted a sentence that says that it cannot work if getty is running. I commented out the mingetty lines in /etc/inittab and rebooted. Now it says 'conneted'!
The only problem is that when I launch the viewer program it says 'disconnected' at first, but changes to 'connected' after a few seconds. Is this normal? Is it only the viewer that's making the connection at that time?
I'm feeling much more confident now.
