you have the rpms of 'php' 'gd' and 'php-gd' installed? Cheers, MaZe.

I somehow feel it has something to do with the config flags
Working FC2: '--with-gd' '--enable-gd-native-ttf'
Non-working CentOS 4.1: '--with-gd=shared' '--enable-gd-native-ttf'
