Also, Do I need to add any specific yum repositories or will the stock 4.2 yum configuration work (assumint that yum is the best way to do the upgrade) ?

su <type root password and hit enter yum update hit "y" when it asks you if you really want to do this. wait for it to finish updating /sbin/shutdown -r now
