The CentOS rpm should contain an /etc/httpd/conf.d/squirrelmail.conf file that makes the Squirrelmail alias http://myserver/squirrelmail.
No it doesn't - it makes http://myserver/webmail an alias to /usr/share/squirrelmail. Hence http://myserver/webmail is the correct URL to use.
Make sure that httpd is actually running (or has been restarted) and that /usr/share/squirrelmail is readable by user apache.
