For those that need to install/update multiple machines, you have several options. If you have that many machines, you're doing some sort of management anyway so it really isn't a stretch to ask you to change your .repo file along with your mail configuration, web server configuration, etc.
Its just one of those things that the best thing you can say about it is that it gives you job security.
