You have verified that CentOS is bug-for-bug compatible with upstream. :-)
That issue is noted in the Release Notes, Section 4, Know Issues: http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.6
There are other potential issues lurking as 5.6 has yet to be officially released and some mirrors may be in inconsistent states due to last-minute changes.
Is there some way for yum to know about that?
