Have you tried this with the current kernel for centos5?
A yum update to the latest kernel seems to have fixed this for now. Thanks. I know it seemed like the obvious solution, but I didn't want to just start randomly trying things. I didn't see anything in the kernel changelog that seemed to specifically address this problem I wonder which change actually fixed it.
