Yep, wait for centos 5.1 to be released. This was an upstream bug/oversight and they did not include FB_VESA support in the 5.1 kernel. A bug has been filed upstream and is available for your viewing pleasure at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=236195
