The nvidia driver has a long README file and in my experience it is one of the better manuals for no-cost software.

The one at rpmforge works just fine, includes dkms support and, although not the latest and greatest, I have not found a compelling reason to use the direct nvidia-supplied driver (which does NOT contain dkms support) instead of the rpmforge driver.
