new mirror

Greetings, I've been running an unofficial Centos mirror for a couple years now.. but since it wasn't a full mirror I didn't announce it outside the university I am at. After a revamp of space on some servers I found myself in a position to do a full and proper mirror. Sounded like a great plan. I now have a full Centos mirror available to the world via HTTP and FTP. The URLs for this are: http://dds.gina.alaska.edu/public/mirrors/centos/ ftp://dds.gina.alaska.edu/mirrors/centos/ The rsync options used: ROPTS="-avqzH --delete" MIRROR="us-msync.centos.org::CentOS" Mirror is sync'ed twice a day at 3 AM and 3 PM Alaska time. Credit for this mirror goes to: University of Alaska - GINA The Internet connection should qualify as OC3 or better. The location is Fairbanks, Alaska. Hey again, For mirror: centos.neoservers.com Well that wasn't very smooth of a transition ... the motherboard roasted mid-way through the move of the CentOS mirror for some reason. My CentOS mirror is back online, and I just synced up with another mirror. Night! --Graham

Hello, My mirror (provided by Neoservers LLC) is being transferred to another hard drive right now and thus will result in broken downloads for the time being. I just thought I'd give a heads up incase anyone complains about it being a bad mirror. --Graham

problems w/ file permissons on centos server

Hi! I am getteina a lot of errors like: rsync: delete_file: unlink "/home/ftp/centos/3.7/os/s390/RedHat/RPMS/ypserv-2.8-13.s390.rpm" failed: Permission denied (13) rsync: delete_file: unlink "/home/ftp/centos/3.7/os/s390/RedHat/RPMS/ypbind-1.12-5.21.6.s390.rpm" failed: Permission denied (13) rsync: delete_file: unlink "/home/ftp/centos/3.7/os/s390/RedHat/RPMS/xscreensaver-4.10-15.s390.rpm" failed: Permission denied (13) r This is because the following dirs seem to have bad file permissions: dr-xr-xr-x 2 users 65536 mar 26 10:49 /home/ftp/centos/3.7/os/s390/RedHat/RPMS dr-xr-xr-x 2 users 57344 mar 25 21:08 /home/ftp/centos/3.7/os/s390x/RedHat/RPM ie they have perms 555 instead of 755. Bad mirror?

Hey all, Is the LBL Berkley mirror working properly? I use altruistic.lbl.gov::mirrors/centos/ to rsync my mirror, and I've noticed that my mirror hasn't received any new updates in almost two weeks now. Rsync would give a file error when trying to use that mirror. Something about it being unable to open the mirror. I just switched my rsync command with the Stanford mirror, and it is downloading several gigs of data to my server. Could you verify that the LBL Berkley mirror is working properly? I've just finished setting up mirror.atlantic.net as a CentOS mirror. ftp://mirror.atlantic.net/pub/centos I'm syncing 4 times/day (3,9,15,21) from us-msync.centos.org::CentOS/ I'm only syncing the i386 architecture and only versions 3 and 4. i.e. my exclude list is: /**/alpha/ /**/sparc/ /**/ppc/ /**/ia64/ /**/s390/ /**/s390x/ /**/x86_64/ /**/ls-lR /**/ls-lR.gz /**/.nfs* /**/.~tmp~/ 2 2.1 mirror.atlantic.net is located in Orlando/FL/US. I currently have our bandwidth cap for off-net IPs set to 20Mbit/s.
