Hello Starting this week, the RLUG community operates three mirrors, all of them serving Centos content: ftp.ines.lug.ro, ftp.gts.lug.ro and ftp.nb.lug.ro. We mirror all archs, all versions. Content is available via ftp and http from all the servers. Due to space constrains, only ftp.nb.lug.ro carries the DVD isos. Available bandwitdh: 100 Mbps/each server. All mirrors sync every 6 hours. Setting up a Public Mirror with DVDs

I have browsed the mailing list for the answer, but have not found an official answer. I have configured a machine to be a public mirror and I want to host DVD isos along with everything else. I have started rsync'ing from msync.centos.org::CentOS, but I don't get DVD isos. I am using the following command: #rsync -aqzH --delay-updates --delete msync.centos.org::CentOS /xraid1/web/mirror/centos/ To which server should I connect and what should the command look like in order to get the DVD isos? I have seen postings defining it like this: <server>::CentOS-incdvd but it didn't seem to work with msync.centos.org. Am I doing something wrong? If I need permission, the IP address of the server is 141.161.54.167. Thanks for your help. Jess

Could you please update the list of mirrors to add 'yes' to SWITCHmirror (mirror.switch.ch) in the 'Direct DVD Downloads' column? BTW: Perhaps you could add some text on the 'CentOS Mirroring HowTo' page on why DVDs are not currently available from the masters. I had to dig into the mail archive to find the answer. A suggestion for the upcoming multi-tier mirroring system: Make DVD the default and make the many CDs (1ofX) optional. Perhaps to exclude one or the other easily, place them in uniquely named separate subdirectories. Mirror not showing up in mirror-status.centos.org

Hi, I run the mirrors.combinetworks.com mirror, and just noticed when going to http://mirror-status.centos.org that my mirror is not in the list. I had noticed that the mirror server had not been getting very much traffic. Could that be the cause? Are peoples yum instances etc. possibly not using my mirror because of that? Hundreds of requests for CentOS 2 isos from Chinese IP addresses

Recently I've been seeing hundreds of requests over a short space of time for the CentOS 2 isos, always from a single IP address, always Chinese IP addresses. Anybody else seeing these, or know what they are trying to do? It almost looks like some sort of DoS attack. Thanks, Mike

DVD's

Centos, What do we have to do to get DVD's onto our mirrors ? We had them for the longest of time and now I am noticing they are gone again. We would like to keep offering our community the ability of getting the DVD's from us through our network vs having to deal with other means. Please let me know. Mirrors are not updating

I've noticed several US mirrors that are out of date. I've had to switch mirrors twice now but there seems to be a master mirror somewhere that's stuck on an August 3rd timestamp. i am the sys admin of the centos mirror at ftp.iitm.ac.in; i sync from us-msync.centos.org. in the last 2-3 weeks, i seem to be having a problem with the 5.1 directory - it keeps flip flopping between empty (but for the readme file) and fully populated (os, extras, updates etc etc) - downloading and deleting a couple of gb every time. i randomly checked a few mirros and this seems to be widespread. what gives? -- sriram

We have setup a new CentOS mirror. We synchronize 6 times a day, and have 200Mbits of available bandwidth. The server is located in Richmond, VT, USA and is hosted by Green Mountain Access, http://www.greenmountainaccess.net/ URL's are: http://mirrors.greenmountainaccess.net/centos/ ftp://mirrors.greenmountainaccess.net/centos/ rsync://mirrors.greenmountainaccess.net/centos I have one question/issue: When I hit a different server for example centosi2 vs centosq it resets the numeric user ID from 500 to 501 and back and forth. I take it there is probably a user name associated with the files. If so what would that user name be? I'm in the process of setting up a new mirror. I'd like to get an idea of what's the typical monthly bandwidth usage I can expect. I'll be mirroring centos 4 & 5, all arches, no isos. My server is located in Los Angeles, USA. Can any folks give me some numbers on a US mirror with no isos? Also, what should I set my bwlimit to? I'd like to mirror off of msync.centos.org. Here's what I'm using: rsync -avH --bwlimit=256 --delay-updates --delete-after --stats Any tips I might not be aware of? -Chris
