CentOS R2 temporary files

CentOS R2 still has the same 0.5GB of temporary files that it has had since 4.7 was released to the mirrors and these are being synced or deleted depending on which mirror is chosen when I rsync. My only concern is that it's a bit of a waste of bandwidth that could be put to more use serving client machines. Can they be deleted now, please? Thanks, -- Mike Zanker

Hey There, We have been running with DVDs for a couple of months now which has been running well until recently. Our Rsync is using another mirror that is not a master. We've been having problems with this recently as you can see from the mirror status. We would like to rsync from the dvd master to avoid these issues. I understand the DVD masters are protected by ACL. Ours would be ray04.raystedman.org or 74.55.31.226. Thanks, Greg

Our mirror rsync process is complaining about the following bad soft link file that exists on the CentOS mirror servers since 4.7 was released: chown: cannot dereference `/u/mirrors/pub/linux/centos/4.6/4.7': Too many levels of symbolic links The actual file is a soft link pointing onto itself: # cd /u/mirrors/pub/linux/centos/4.6/ # ls -l 4.7 lrwxrwxrwx 1 tomcat dcsc 3 Sep 17 18:05 4.7 -> 4.7 PLEASE remove this file on the top level mirror servers ! Rsync Error

When trying to sync form us-msync.centos.org today, twice we have gotten errors about the max connections being reached. Are there peak times for the master servers that we might be able to avoid when pulling our updates? Better yet, is there a graph or any other automatically updated means whereby we can check the connection count's or bandwidth usage of the main servers so that any admins running a CentOS mirror can look at and figure out for ourselves when to best mirror the repos? Setting up a Public Mirror with DVDs

I have browsed the mailing list for the answer, but have not found an official answer. I have configured a machine to be a public mirror and I want to host DVD isos along with everything else. I have started rsync'ing from msync.centos.org::CentOS, but I don't get DVD isos. I am using the following command: #rsync -aqzH --delay-updates --delete msync.centos.org::CentOS /xraid1/web/mirror/centos/ To which server should I connect and what should the command look like in order to get the DVD isos? I have seen postings defining it like this: <server>::CentOS-incdvd but it didn't seem to work with msync.centos.org. Am I doing something wrong? If I need permission, the IP address of the server is 141.161.54.167. Thanks for your help. Jess

Could you please update the list of mirrors to add 'yes' to SWITCHmirror (mirror.switch.ch) in the 'Direct DVD Downloads' column? BTW: Perhaps you could add some text on the 'CentOS Mirroring HowTo' page on why DVDs are not currently available from the masters. I had to dig into the mail archive to find the answer. A suggestion for the upcoming multi-tier mirroring system: Make DVD the default and make the many CDs (1ofX) optional. Perhaps to exclude one or the other easily, place them in uniquely named separate subdirectories. Hi, I run the mirrors.combinetworks.com mirror, and just noticed when going to http://mirror-status.centos.org that my mirror is not in the list. I had noticed that the mirror server had not been getting very much traffic. Could that be the cause? Are peoples yum instances etc. possibly not using my mirror because of that?
