We will shortly transfer our mirror mirror.nsc.liu.se to new hardware.
The name (mirror.nsc.liu.se) and the http, rsync and ftp URLs will remain
the same. We will continue to mirror and offer for download all versions
and architectures including DVDs.
The mirror IP will change to 130.236.100.79.
We currently mirror msync-dvd.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd. Is that the
correct rsync source to use if we want to mirror everything including DVDs?
If so, please add our new IP to the ACL list.
Or is it enough to mirror msync.centos.org::CentOS as documented on
http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=22 ?
We also mirror debuginfo.centos.org::centos-debuginfo (available as
http://mirror.nsc.liu.se/centos-debuginfo/) and
vault.centos.org::centos-full-store
(http://mirror.nsc.liu.se/centos-store/) daily. Are those the correct rsync
sources to sync from? Any ACL changes needed there?

The script we have in cron at RayStedman.net to update our mirror contains
code that does the following:
. Rsync against msync-dvd.centos.org
. Compares the contents of the file TIME against the clock on our
server
. If the times are not within four hours, the Rsync is retried
This script has been working for years.
The Rsync operation appears to have finished successfully but the time
values after the Rsync follow:
. TIME -- 1331521201
. Timestamp.txt -- Mon Mar 12 03:00:01 UTC 2012
It appears the last time the time files on the master were updated was 03:00
on 3/12/12.
Could anyone help me with that
receiving file list ... pre-xfer exec returned failure (256)
rsync error: requested action not supported (code 4) at
clientserver.c(869) [sender=3.0.6]
rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (104)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(760)

any idea how to fix it ?

Hi
every time I rsync from centosy4, I get most of the updates deleted.
looks like that server is outdated.

Hello,
We have set up new mirror:
bay.uchicago.edu
Supports: http, ftp, rsync
Allows direct DVD download
URLs:
http://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/ftp://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/rsync://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/
mirror synchronizes 4 times a day (CDT: 2:33 8:33 14:33 20:33)
Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Bandwidth: about 1 Gbps
Organization: University of Chicago, Department of Astronomy and
Astrophysics
Mirror provides full collection of CentOS files, including direct download
of DVD images.
I also have got questions:
1. which mirror will you prefer me to sync to. At the moment I do:
rsync [bunch of options] us-msync.centos.org::CentOS
2. Do I use appropriate mirror to keep in sync DVD images?
Thanks.

Mine has been syncronizing for 2 days now slowly, and using inconsistent ammounts of bandwidth. Low during the day, high at night.
Thanks!

Hey,
Is anyone else seeing a large increase in bandwidth today compared to
previous releases?
I barely remember a bump last time a new CentOS release came out and
today I'm about 650 gigs over a good day for my mirror.
Jeff

Please add these addresses to ACL of msync-dvd.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd

yes, I am. I have 3 email addresses:
galtsev(a)kicp.uchicago.edu (response time about 5 min during work hours,
about 15 min the rest of the day)
galtsev(a)oddjob.uchicago.edu and sysadmin(a)oddjob.uchicago.edu (response
time about 30 min during day)
Do you need paper born mail address as well?

Please, let me know when you added us to ACL, then I'll change rsync
script. Also: please, let me know if you want us to sync more/less often,
or if you want us to sync at particular times. I can add randomization to
sync time (please, let me know what do you want that randomization to be).
Here is our current rsync schedule (no randomization):
CDT: 2:33 8:33 14:33 20:33
Thanks.

Due to a server migration, it.centos.contactlab.it will be out of sync
starting from now to the end of the next rsync, scheduled as:
0 18 * * * root lockf -t0
/tmp/rsynccentos.lock /usr/local/vbin/rsync-centos.sh >/dev/null 2>&1
Thank you,

Hi, I'm having frequent problems with one of the servers handling
mirror.centos.org requests. The problematic server's IP address is
91.201.202.12. Example below:
--- cut here ---
[root@seepra ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: mirror.nsc.liu.se
* epel: www.nic.funet.fi
* extras: mirror.nsc.liu.se
* updates: mirror.nsc.liu.se
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/cr/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno
14] PYCURL ERROR 7 - "couldn't connect to host"
Trying other mirror.
Setting up Update Process
No Packages marked for Update
[root@seepra ~]# telnet mirror.centos.org 80
Trying 91.201.202.12...
telnet: connect to address 91.201.202.12: Connection timed out
--- cut here ---
This certainly isn't the first time that I'm seeing this particular
server having some problems. I understand that this is likely a donated
server (which is of course much appreciated), but I'm afraid that server
isn't quite capable of handling all the tasks it should be doing.
Could something be done regarding that server? Thanks in advance.
Hello
Please remove mirror.alva.ge and it's ip's (93.188.8.140-93.188.8.146)
from mirroring list and rsync ACL's - we are shutting down our
services.
I am preparing new infrastructure for mirroring - I will update you as
soon as I will finish it.
Thanks
Best regards,
George Machitidze
This mirror was taken offline during a DNS / Server move and is now
back online. This mirror is still on a 1gbit line and now has more
processing power.
