Hello Everyone
I am very happy to anounce that my mirror in Bangladesh
http://mirrors.bd-servers.net/ is now serving DVD IOS (Thanks to Mr.
Hassan, Maintainer of Other Bangladeshi CentOS Mirror).
Currently it is HTTP only mirror, but hopefully by next month I will
be ready for RSYNC access to my mirror.
Cheers

Hi All,

however none of the rsync mirrors are providing DVD access.
How are you guys doing that.
Thanks

Hey,
I'm sorry if someone waited for the (proposed by me) irc chat on Monday
18th - I had a somewhat surprise visit by family on that date.
As a new date I propose Monday, October 25th at 20:00 UTC in
#centos-mirror on irc.freenode.net (and this time I won't have visitors
over or at least know it early enough to say so).
Any opinions on that date?
Regards,
Ralph
I am unable to connect to the mirror at 67.208.69.234 rsync and http
time out.
My logs indicate it has failed at the following times:

Hello,
I'm currently setting up a private mirror of CentOS 4 and 5, which will pull from ftp.plusline.de (since Plusline AG is also our uplink provider). We're planning on mirroring 'base' and 'updates' only, at least for the time being. We're going to add CentOS 6 after it is released. We won't mirror CD- and DVD-Images or SRPMs.
According to your site on mirroring (http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=22) I should let you know about this -- although I'm not sure whether this is really addressed at non-public mirrors.
Just in case: Our uplink speed is 100 MBit/s and our machines are in the 82.98.87.0/24 and 82.98.82.0/24 networks, as well as in 2a02:2e0:3fc::/48, the physical location would be Frankfurt am Main, Hessen, Germany. The mirror can be reached under http://mirror.jonaspasche.com/pub/ (both via IPv4 and IPv6), but we'll probably filter client connections that don't come from within our network.
Looking through your mailing list's archive I gathered that you are currently preparing to change your mirror infrastructure. If in doing this you should implement a way to run a private mirror without having to update the CentOS-Base.repo file on every machine (for example by giving clients different mirrorlists depending on the netrange their request are originating from), I'd be very much obliged.
One question: I've found different information on how to configure a private mirror on the client machines, both on your wiki (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/CreateLocalMirror) and in the mailing list archive. It seems to me that the best way would be to add a custom "baseurl=…" line, leave the "mirrorlist=…" line the way it is and add another line "failovermethod=priority" to the repository definition, as well as disabling yum-fastestmirror. But this is only mentioned in the mailing list archive, not in the wiki. Is there a particular reason why?
And lastly, since I can't say this often enough: We're very happy CentOS users. Keep up the good work and thanks a lot!
Regards and best wishes,
Chris

The Clarkson University mirror is now allowed up to 200M outbound.
Also, is it possible to get access to the master rsync dvd pool yet? We've
been listed as a Tier 1 mirror for awhile and have always had to pull our
updates from other Tier 1 mirrors.

Hi All,
How does our Site get Included in the Fastestmirror plugin search of
Centos Yum.?
We are not seeing any traffic to our site http://mirros.gitam.edu/fedora
Regards
Durga Prasad
Does anyone have any ideas on how to steer mirror traffic to your own mirrors
without logging into the boxes? We have two public mirrors (one in each of
our DCs) and would love to reduce the load on external mirrors, but manually
changing the settings of tons of production boxes (many of which we don't even
have access to) is not really an option. Most/all of the boxes have the
default yum config (fastestmirror plugin).
Any ideas are welcome.

Hi all:
I've been following the whole DVD iso access questions and such for a
while, and while talking to some people on #centos-mirror during the
5.5 push, some thoughts occurred to me.
Presently, it is my understanding that there are two different repos
maintained: ones with dvd images, and ones without. This seems
needlessly painful and wasteful of the time and resources of our
dedicated Centos volunteer administrators. I understand at least some
of the reasons it exists: there are some mirrors that don't have the
space for the DVDs or for other reasons wish not to carry them.
However, times are changing, and I think that many, if not most,
centos mirror operators would prefer to carry the DVD isos. In fact,
I'd almost expect future major releases of CentOS (6+) to distribute
DVD isos instead of the CD disk 1 of xx isos.
So, I propose that the dvd-less mirror system is eliminated (all msync
mirrors carry DVDs). No special ACLs either... Its easy to add a
--exclude "*DVD*" to the rsync line for those that wish to not carry
the DVDs. I also think that with sufficient announcement and time
(say 1-3 months), this shouldn't be an issue. My understanding is
that officially its required for anyone who operates a CentOS mirror
to be subscribed to this list, and thus they should receive the
announcement. In addition, a note can be added to the msync MOTD
conveying this. If others have problems, I think the CentOS team
would have done their due diligence; the fault would rest with those
not paying attention to lists. After all, all things change and
evolve, and I think this is a natural evolution for the CentOS mirror
team.

Hi,
Nope, I don't see your posts to the mirror mailing list (sending a copy
now). I cannot connect to the ftp service, so I left that out, the rest
has been added.
