Hi! I just checked our mirror in the mirror list at http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=31 and found that it says DVD:no. A bit surprised I checked, and it seems we do carry the dvd image for the latest release(s) but not for (some of) the older ones. Is this the reason the the "no"? Best regards, Emil

5.4 updates question

How often does the mirror network update and check for mirrors that are or are not carrying updates? We have all the 5.4 tree on our mirror site but updates via yum are going to another site now.... Just wondering if we need to wait another 24 hours before doing updates for our own system? Mirror issue?

I may be crazy, But using the 5.4 i386 netinstall pointing at the /centos/5.4/os/i386 I get a error about the directory tree not maching boot media same with /centos/5/os/i386 Does this with my up to date mirror, my upstream (linux.mirrors.es.net) and mirrors.kernel.org

Hi, I currently host mirrors.combinetworks.com, however due to bandwidth transfer restrictions and my own underestimation of the amount of bandwidth that would be used it is likely this will need to cease. However before that time I have set up an alternative in a datacentre in the UK which has no transfer cap on a 100mbit/sec port. Well, This is better targeted at the list, as I just host a private mirror, and I'm not the person to talk to. However, It does look like your mirror is already listed and up to date. Only reason I could see it being listed lower is because its considered low bandwidth (OC3 or lower). The list would have more info, Which I have CC'ed them in on this. I see that 5.4 is out but I'm not seeing any traffic going to our mirror: mirrors.gigenet.com, are there any issues with our mirror? I checked the mirror status page and all looks good however we are seeing no downloads and don't seem to be included on the downloads page. -Ross

Rsync Issues

So, I'm having a problem over the past few days with getting 5.4 onto the Clarkson mirror for release. In the past, I've always synced with mirrors.rit.edu for CentOS since it was always reliable, it was the closest mirror to Clarkson, and because I'm unable to pull CentOS from the master rsync pool due to bandwidth limitations. Recently, I've changed my rsync to a private mirror at the University of Utah because David Richardson set it up to allow our mirror access to download new releases prior to the official release date. The issue that has arisen since 5.4 started to be pushed out is that my mirror has downloaded and deleted it 3 times so far and I'm trying to avoid it doing so again. I even changed back to mirrors.rit.edu at one point but noticed that RIT was experiencing the same issue of the 5.4 directory being deleted. As of right now, it looks like the Utah mirror ( mirror.chpc.utah.edu) is experiencing the same issue again since all of the ISOs are missing, even though they were there last night. Has anyone else seen this occur on their mirrors over the last few days? Can someone verify that all of the servers in the master pool have 5.4 on them correctly? I'd like to have us ready for the official release but at the moment I've killed my updates until I know 5.4 won't be deleted off our mirror again. Also, can I be added to the ACL for CentOS-incdvd? Hi, This is surely a FAQ, but I could not find the answer anywhere. What are the needs in terms of disk space for a CentOS mirror? I understand that we can choose to carry DVD images or not, but can we choose to carry only some archs and/or releases? And in this cases, are there already any measures on disk space needed? Is there some expectancy on how this will increase over time? I hope to set up a new 1Gbps mirror (inside a 20Gbps backbone) in Brazil ASAP, but first I need to get these and some other answers to convince the bureaucrats. ;-) Regards, Jonny
