So, I'm having a problem over the past few days with getting 5.4 onto the Clarkson mirror for release. In the past, I've always synced with mirrors.rit.edu for CentOS since it was always reliable, it was the closest mirror to Clarkson, and because I'm unable to pull CentOS from the master rsync pool due to bandwidth limitations. Recently, I've changed my rsync to a private mirror at the University of Utah because David Richardson set it up to allow our mirror access to download new releases prior to the official release date. The issue that has arisen since 5.4 started to be pushed out is that my mirror has downloaded and deleted it 3 times so far and I'm trying to avoid it doing so again. I even changed back to mirrors.rit.edu at one point but noticed that RIT was experiencing the same issue of the 5.4 directory being deleted. As of right now, it looks like the Utah mirror ( mirror.chpc.utah.edu) is experiencing the same issue again since all of the ISOs are missing, even though they were there last night. Has anyone else seen this occur on their mirrors over the last few days? Can someone verify that all of the servers in the master pool have 5.4 on them correctly? I'd like to have us ready for the official release but at the moment I've killed my updates until I know 5.4 won't be deleted off our mirror again. Also, can I be added to the ACL for CentOS-incdvd? New Mirror specs

Hi, This is surely a FAQ, but I could not find the answer anywhere. What are the needs in terms of disk space for a CentOS mirror? I understand that we can choose to carry DVD images or not, but can we choose to carry only some archs and/or releases? And in this cases, are there already any measures on disk space needed? Is there some expectancy on how this will increase over time? I hope to set up a new 1Gbps mirror (inside a 20Gbps backbone) in Brazil ASAP, but first I need to get these and some other answers to convince the bureaucrats. ;-) Regards, Jonny

msync-dvd.centos.org: Connection refused

Last few days I'm get: rsync: failed to connect to msync-dvd.centos.org: Connection refused (111) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(107) [receiver=2.6.8] time to time (1-2x/day) when trying to sync merlin.fit.vutbr.cz with master. Internet2 Mirror Available

Russ asked me to email to let people know that we have an I2-attached mirror available: ftp.osuosl.org It will resolve to our I2 mirror (in Corvallis, OR) if you are coming in on an IP from I2, otherwise that will get you to our non-I2 mirrors (currently in Chicago and soon to be another in NYC). We currently have anonymous ftp/http/rsync setup at that address. If there's a lot of demand, we may consider opening up the CentOS tree to allow other mirror admins "early access" to releases -- but then again, it may be easier for us to just allow CentOS to add another centos-controlled mirror on our network... -Jeff

Releases & Mirrors not able to sync with the master pool

So, I have a few questions about the future of the CentOS mirror network since the release of 5.4 is soon. Is there any possibility that the rsync master pool will eventually have a direct link to the Internet2 Network? If not, is there any way for a mirror (like mirror.clarkson.edu) to avoid the delay in syncing new releases like 5.4 prior to the bitflip? I'm asking this because the Clarkson mirror was unable to sync the release of 4.8 prior to the bitflip occurring since we are forced to sync with a mirror that is on the Internet2 Network. I would prefer to avoid delays in being able to serve new releases, if possible. Master mirror with DVD?

Hello, I'm currently getting updates for our mirror from msync.centos.org::CentOS but when I wanted to use a DVD-iso, I noticed that O only get files like CentOS-5.3-x86_64-bin-DVD.torrent, but no DVD iso. I checked the archive and found others using msync.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd, but I get @ERROR: Unknown module 'CentOS-incdvd' using it. Which master rsync server can I use that includes DVD isos instead of BitTorrent links? Kind regards Marten
