hi; I have a server in london, and right now have about 500GB of bandwidth a month i can donate to the mere project. I know this isn't that much, however if it can help i would be willing to. I want to know a few things. I'm new to this so what do i have to do? How do i do this and get it set up? Also i use directadmin on my server, can i create cron with this? CentOS Mirror

Server Reconfig -- Additional Bandwidth Available

Hi Tru, We recently reconfigured our servers and have more bandwidth to share with CentOS.org. We currently see 800 GBytes of CentOS traffic per month and about half of this is downloading DVDs. Our current configuration allows for more than double this amount of traffic for CentOS. Please feel free to direct additional traffic our way as you have the need. Here are a couple of ideas that might help you out with this: (1) Should we turn the DVD flag to Yes here: http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=13 (2) We don't seem to appear in the following list: http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=5&arch=x86_64&repo=os&cc=us Please feel free to implement whatever you believe will be most helpful to the project. Thanks to Romanian Education Network, Iasi Branch ( http://www.iasi.roedu.net/) for their bandwidth support for initial DVD download. But at this time, this DVD iso is only limited for 'Bangladeshi User'. We will try our best to get enough bandwidth from our Data Center to support others in very near future. At this moment, our RSYNC script syncing from Romanian Education Server, I would like to request Master Mirror Maintainer to allow us to SYNC from master server. As we use '--delete' option, If I change my script to master mirror, DVD IOS will gone:( Our IP address is: 116.212.104.70 which use to sync from master. Hope this IP will include in your ACL to allow future SYNC. Waiting for a posative reply. Hello, New french mirror is online, it's based on 2x100Mbit server's that sync between themselves daily. The main server also sync's twice a day with a local rsync enabled server. Hostname is enabled for IPv6 (Native connectivity) and IPv4. CentOS R2 temporary files

CentOS R2 still has the same 0.5GB of temporary files that it has had since 4.7 was released to the mirrors and these are being synced or deleted depending on which mirror is chosen when I rsync. My only concern is that it's a bit of a waste of bandwidth that could be put to more use serving client machines. Can they be deleted now, please? Thanks, -- Mike Zanker

Hey There, We have been running with DVDs for a couple of months now which has been running well until recently. Our Rsync is using another mirror that is not a master. We've been having problems with this recently as you can see from the mirror status. We would like to rsync from the dvd master to avoid these issues. I understand the DVD masters are protected by ACL. Ours would be ray04.raystedman.org or 74.55.31.226. Thanks, Greg

Our mirror rsync process is complaining about the following bad soft link file that exists on the CentOS mirror servers since 4.7 was released: chown: cannot dereference `/u/mirrors/pub/linux/centos/4.6/4.7': Too many levels of symbolic links The actual file is a soft link pointing onto itself: # cd /u/mirrors/pub/linux/centos/4.6/ # ls -l 4.7 lrwxrwxrwx 1 tomcat dcsc 3 Sep 17 18:05 4.7 -> 4.7 PLEASE remove this file on the top level mirror servers !
