I can maybe create a new public mirror

Hi to all! I was wondering that if i made a new public mirror. I have two choises, one is server witch is Finland. Second is server from Germany. These servers had 100Mb network. I took a combination of Fedora, Gentoo, and Debian documents and came up with what I am using. Here's what I have done: 1. Install xinetd. 2. Configure rsync in xinetd. - Basically, the Centos setup just needs to be changed so 'disable' is 'no.' 3. create /etc/rsyncd.conf you can use man rsyncd.conf for the syntax and various bits there, including an example. I started with the example from the manpage and added some items: I changed 'use chroot' to yes (the example said 'no.') I changed the max connections to 15. (I'd be more than happy to discuss numbers here.) I turned transfer logging on: -- transfer logging = yes log file = /var/log/rsync.log log format = %t %a %m %f %b -- These suggestions came from the Gentoo pages, and suggested that log format to provide better logging with the chroot. I added a timeout and a motd: -- motd file = /etc/motd.rsync timeout = 300 -- Following this, I placed lines for each of the 'sections' that we have. For CentOS, I used: [CentOS] path = /path/to/mirrors/CentOS comment = full Centos mirror --- 4. I checked that xinitd was set to restart in runlevels 3 and 5 with chkconfig. 5. I started xinitd. 6. I tested: A. does rysync itself work? rsync rsync://mirror.academica.fi/ (this shows the MOTD, and each of the sections I added, and the description.) B. does rsync transfer work FROM the server? C. is rsync transfer TO the server rejected? Ok we have the centos mirror up and running. All of the versions are in there including the dvds. You can see it here at http://mirror.bluethundercomputers.net/centos It is now ready to be listed. Stale Mirror: centoso4: 69.167.139.9

FYI: The mirror centoso4 at IP 69.167.139.9 is old. The time stamp on that machine is "29-Jan-2011 10:00", and when my rsync hits that server it keeps deleting the recent updates. Adam

Ok I have the mirror doing what is supposed to now. I will give it a few days and I can check it. If all goes well we can list it. I found the script to set it up for it to work right. It will update every 6 hours. If all works well I will let you know how it gets set up in cpanel. Now I just have to get the ftp part to work. Thank you everyone who help me the past few days. The answer is yes. centos.mirrors.atwab.net is provided by Atwab Networks. Also just an update, the cron job is all set and running. Mirror not showing up list of suggestions

Hello, Our team operates the CentOS mirror at http://mirror-cybernet.lums.edu.pk/pub/centos/ located in Pakistan. When we go through http://mirror.centos.org/ to try to download CentOS 5.5 ISOs from Pakistan we get to the page http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5.5/isos/i386/ which lists mirrors where the ISOs are available in nearby countries but does not show own mirror in Pakistan. The following screenshot of a browser window illustrates this; the client's public IP when this screenshot was taken was 203.81.210.4 (as retrieved using whatismyip.com) Has our mirror been listed correctly? Or does this point to a configuration issue on our side? Thanks in advance for your help. LUMS Mirror Team

Matt Ok here is the script and I will tell you what I did. I then set a cron for it to go every 6 hours. I dont see anything happening. I was wondering if I missed something.
