Hello, I'm the admin of ftp.tku.edu.tw (TamKang Univresity in Taiwan) Our site request to become the new one of CentOS mirroe sites. I've finished the cron job setup and the first completely sync. Here are the information： URL's? http://ftp.tku.edu.tw/Linux/CentOS/ ftp://ftp.tku.edu.tw/Linux/CentOS/ How often sync the mirror ? Once per day City/state/country? Master mirror with DVD?

Hello, I'm currently getting updates for our mirror from msync.centos.org::CentOS but when I wanted to use a DVD-iso, I noticed that O only get files like CentOS-5.3-x86_64-bin-DVD.torrent, but no DVD iso. I checked the archive and found others using msync.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd, but I get @ERROR: Unknown module 'CentOS-incdvd' using it. Which master rsync server can I use that includes DVD isos instead of BitTorrent links? Kind regards Marten

New Mirror Up

Hello, I have my Colo server up as a new mirror. Details: Synchronizing to the mirror network complete. Intervals set daily in cron for 8AM and 4PM. rsyncing dvd repository

I had been successfully rsyncing mirror.vcu.edu with msync-dvd.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd but a few days ago that stopped and I see references to be included to on acl for that server. I would like to do that, or I'll accept a recommended alternative.

Lingering Directory Structure

FYI: My logs keep showing that 66.199.242.154 & 207.154.201.18 keep creating the following two directories: 2.1/updates/ 2.1/updates/headers/ While the other mirrors delete them. Thanks, Adam

Average mirror traffic

Hello, I am currently rsyncing the CentOS tree to one of our server. We are managing a few dozends of CentOS servers, so it surely will speed up updates and lead to less wasted bandwidth if we don't update from common public repositories any longer, but use an internal server instead, that only syncs once with the master server. Now I'm in doubt wether I should make our own mirror public or not. The first and main issue are the bandwidth costs. Can you give an estimate on how much traffic a typical European/German mirror generates per month? The second issue is, that some kiddies might try to attack and hack our mirror to inject changed packages. Do you have statistics on this? Which FTP daemon do you recommend for a hardened anonymous-FTP only service? Btw.: What do I have to change in the yum config on each server to use one specific repository server and not the mirrorlist system? Do I just have comment the mirrorlist line and uncomment the baseurl? Regards Marten

I recently changed my rsync script to use lock files.
