Hello,

they are not scrapped, they simply don`t have 5.x anymore and there is aa file in every 5.x directory telling:

This directory (and version of CentOS) is depreciated.

CentOS-5 is now past EOL

You can get the last released version of centos 5.11 here:

http://vault.centos.org/5.11/

Please NOTE:  this is not being maintained for security since moving to Vault.

It will have security issues, you should upgrade to a new version instead.

Check the other directories on that mirrors, they work. So there is nothing like “scrapped mirrors”. The 5.x files are simply gone from the official mirrors.

mit freundlichem Gruß

Christian Freund

Hello everyone,

Given the version 5 EOL two weeks ago, I reckon people have scrapped their mirrors. I'm based in France, and I've checked:

http://centos.quelquesmots.fr/5.11/os/i386/
http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/centos/5.11/os/i386/
http://miroir.univ-paris13.fr/centos/5.11/os/i386/
http://ftp.ciril.fr/pub/linux/centos/5.11/os/i386/
http://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/CentOS/5.11/os/i386/
ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.centos.org/5.11/os/i386/
http://mirror1.evolution-host.com/centos/5.11/os/i386/
http://centos.crazyfrogs.org/5.11/os/i386/
http://mirror.neify.es/centos/5.11/os/i386/
http://mirror.plusserver.com/centos/5.11/os/i386/
From this list ONLY http://miroir.univ-paris13.fr/centos/5.11/os/i386/ is still working.
Similarly, http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=5&arch=x86_64&repo=os returned:
http://mir01.syntis.net/CentOS/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://fr.mirror.babylon.network/centos/5.11/os/x86_64/
ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.centos.org/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://mirror1.evolution-host.com/centos/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://centos.mirror.fr.planethoster.net/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/centos/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://centos.mirror.ate.info/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/centos/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://mirror.in2p3.fr/linux/CentOS/5.11/os/x86_64/
http://mirror.neify.es/centos/5.11/os/x86_64/
And of this list ONLY http://mirror.in2p3.fr/linux/CentOS/5.11/os/x86_64/ is still working.
Wouldn't therefore be better to reduce these lists to only the working mirrors?
Thanks,
Vlad

You seem to be using CentOS 5, which went EOL at the end of March.
Please migrate to a newer release, such as CentOS 6, or preferably
CentOS 7. There will be no more updates published for CentOS 5.

If you have further concerns about this, please use the main CentOS
mailing list, https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
