Hi All,
I am trying to register a new mirror and don't seem to be winning. I am using the template and info provided at https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/CreatePublicMirrors. The results from sending the email are below. Could someone point me in the right direction and let me know what I have done wrong?
Thanks, Ross

Looks like you tried to send your email to the mailing list subscribe/unsubscribe address. You should have sent the email to centos-mirror@centos.org instead of centos-mirror-announce-request@centos.org.
But now that you managed to post your information to the correct list, your mirror addition request can be processed.
Looks like your mirror is not reachable from the Internet:
$ telnet mirror.wiru.co.za http Trying 154.66.153.4... telnet: connect to address 154.66.153.4: Network is unreachable
$ telnet mirror.wiru.co.za ftp Trying 154.66.153.4... telnet: connect to address 154.66.153.4: Network is unreachable
$ telnet mirror.wiru.co.za rsync Trying 154.66.153.4... telnet: connect to address 154.66.153.4: Network is unreachable
Perhaps some sort of a firewall issue?
Hi Anssi,
Sorry about that. Quite right, it was a firewall rule. Please can you test again?
Thanks, Ross

HTTP and FTP seem to work fine now, but rsync might need a bit more work:
$ rsync rsync://mirror.wiru.co.za/centos/ @ERROR: invalid gid nobody rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1516) [Receiver=3.0.9]
Hi Anssi,
Had the group set group on rsyncd.conf. Please can you test again.
Thanks, Ross

OK, looks good. Fabian will add your mirror to the list soon. You will get a separate notification once the mirror has been added. Thank you for the new mirror. _______________________________________________ CentOS-mirror mailing list CentOS-mirror@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-mirror

Thanks : it has been added to the mirrors DB and will normally be listed as a public mirror (and on http://mirror-status.centos.org / http://centos.org/download/mirrors/ ) in the following minutes/hours. Your IP has been whitelisted (check that it's working in the following hour)
Kind Regards,
Hi Fabian,
Sorry for the delayed response. The IP does seem to be authorised and I have updated the rsync to use the new server. Can you confirm all seems to be in order now?
Many thanks, Ross

Yes, also http://mirror-status.centos.org/#za seems to think that it's all good for your mirror too :-)
