Is the DNS for the beta geographically based? I find that when I access the mirror from our own network, I seem to be directed to a random beta mirror in the US rather than our own, which is most certainly closest.
Same happens for the stable repos here in China...
I always get sent to Japan and not the big 6U server stuffed with disk drives 20U's up in the rack above the server I am on....
