I just noticed that our mirror has been listed on the CentOS mirror list.
That's fine; I've updated my sync script to sync against msync.centos.org.
We are mirroring CentOS 3 and 4 (and will mirror 5) for i386 and x86_64. At some point we may drop support for CentOS 3, but I can't say when that might happen (not until after CentOS 5 is released, for sure, and probably not for several months after that).
Mudd has very good bandwidth, so the limits are probably on the users' side or caused by the older hardware the machine is using.
We sync three times a day.

To whom it may concern:
I was wondering how long it takes for a mirror to be included in the list...It's been nearly 5 days now since I mentioned the launch of ours. Perhaps the CentOS people who read this list should realize that it is rather inpolite to behave like this to people who actually 'honor' them by spending a considerable amount of their (valuable) time (not to mention server and bandwidth resources) to mirror the project. Not even a reply to the list was submitted.
Regards, Greg

Three weeks in my case... :-)

I disagree. Most people working on Centos are probably doing it on their spare time. I know it is quite frustrating not to get answers but I think it is also frustrating for people taking care of mirrors list to be blame while they do not have the time (or even the will, after being blamed a few extra-times) to quickly take care of requests.

Fair enough :-) However it seens to me that, when undertaking the responsibility for such a widely accepted project, better cooperation would be expected (I am intentionally using the word 'cooperation' since we are not talking about user support here). I find it very hard to believe that noone from the team hasn't checked his e-mail or hasn't given the list a glimpse in 5 days, and he did not find 1 minute to reply. Something like "Re: Your mirror will be added soon" would be enough...

Sorry it took so long to get you added.
You are on the list now.
Both of the people who normally manage the mirror list had major issues this weekend on their home networks.
Thanks for the mirror, Johnny Hughes

Thank you and sorry for the missing name/link. It is not that needed but you may use Free as name (we are a small french ISP) with a link to http://www.free.fr/

I appreciate it (quite usual in my home LAN as well, it rarely works :-)). However, I feel I should clarify that my posts were submitted in good intention, and not to blame someone. I was just so anxious to see us in the list.. In any case, I once again thank you and I will let the list know ASAP when I will extend the mirror contents.
Hope this will not shadow our future cooperation. Regards, Greg

and you have to also consider the the centos maintainers are all volunteers who have day jobs, families, holidays etc etc, apart from other work to do on CentOS.
usually new mirrors are added within a week
unless you (or anyone else) want to volunteer to maintain the mirrors database ??
