hi guy,
5.5 is presently syncing within .centos.org we hope to open this to mirror sync in the evening tomorrow.
Please note that we'd like to embargo the tree till 22:30 UTC 13th May 2010. The rsync's are running with a reduced permission. We will bit-flip fairly early in the day, so most mirrors should get about 36+ hours to sync the tree, and then another 10 - 12 hours for the bit-flip to propogate through.
5.5 is just under 20G in size. Mirrors that carry the DVD will get about 29G.
5.4 will move to vault in about 2 weeks after 5.5 is released.
Many thanks to all you guys who run mirrors for the project, its always appreciated.
Regards,

Hello Guyes
I am still waiting to ad my CentOS server to be listed. Please update.
Though Mr. Tru Huynh tru@centos.org knows all the issues regarding this, I am reposting the email here again. Sorry for double post:

I am happy to inform you that 1st CentOS mirror (Previously mirrors.bdnic.net) is Back Online
Details of our CentOS Mirror:
Organization: Bangladesh Network Information & Support Center http://www.bd-servers.net/ Contact: centos-org at bauani dot org Protocols: HTTP Centos Versions: ALL Arch: ALL official of CentOS HTTP URL: http://mirrors.bd-servers.net/centos/ Syncing: 4 Times a day DVD ISOs: Previously I had access to DVD rsync server. Please activate it again. . Bandwidth: 100Mb/s for Bangladesh, 15Mb/s for International Location: Dhaka-Wireless.net Data Center, Dhaka, Bangladesh
You already know in my previous email that due to some bureaucratic procedure, I lost my old domain bdnic.net & access to old data center. Anyway, that is different issue.
Please add our mirror to your list of mirror sites.

Now, I am also seeing missing files in the "isos" folder as mentioned by Jonathan earlier.
Last night, I was unable to get a full sync from multiple mirrors. Unfortunately, I left the full list at home, but I know centosn and centosk did not contain all of the isos. I was trying to sync agains us-msync, msync, and msync-dvd pools.
This morning, it looks like centosz3 and centosv2 have the x86_64 isos. However I don't see the 5.5 branch at all on centoso4. I am still not seeing any checksum files either. For now I also removed the --delete from the sync.
Since I am a new mirror, I don't really know what to expect when a new release comes out. Is there any way to see the health of the .centos.org mirros? It doesn't look like they appear on http://mirror-status.centos.org.

I grab just updates from msync.centos.org, and bits of the tree have been coming and going for a few days now. Looking through logs, the last sync where everything disappeared I see:
msync.CentOS.org rsync service (centosw3)
If centosw3 identifies a specific server, this should help admins track it down?

We are syncing from "msync.centos.org", and some ISOs and other files are missing, as mentioned by another user in another thread yesterday. Can you update us on the situation please?
Our mirror is mirrors.ispros.com.bd We are also offering "rsync" on our server.
Another issue that we noticed with "msync.centos.org", is that we see quite often, the rsync process would not receive any requests, and would quite after some time. That is usually the usual behavior whenever we've used this server.

We need the actual machine name, if you have issues. msync is not *one* machine, but many. At the moment, all of them are rather busy pushing 5.5 out to all mirrors, that might explain a certain lack of responsiveness at the moment :)

FYI: My morning rsync from centosq4 downloaded all of 5.5, and then my rsync this afternoon from centosk deleted all of 5.5.
I apologize it didn't delete ALL of 5.5 but it did delete quite a bit.
Same thing. Saw a weird sync with lots of vanishing files and when I ran it again manually it deleted some of the files/dirs.
I currently have 3.9G in my 5.5 directories.
Centosk on the weird initial sync and centosn on the partial delete.
This just because we are syncing from mirrors that are only partially synced?

To avoid this problem, I tend to sync against a specific mirror. I always seem to get a ping-pong going on when I sync against different mirrors.

To avoid this problem, I tend to sync against a specific mirror. I always seem to get a ping-pong going on when I sync against different mirrors.
ideally, you should not do that, since we change the content on diff machines and change dns to match, if you hardwire your rsync to a single machine, you might get stale or invalid content as we change machine roles.
if you have a problem of this nature, let us know and we will try to resolve it.

Oh, well, I also don't sync from msync..I pull from osuosl (I believe..might be pdx). Being an I2 mirror, its faster for me than any of the msync stuff has been.

I currently have 3.9G in my 5.5 directories.
I have 19G in 5.5, but I am missing some specific files that include:
5.5/isos/x86_64/CentOS-5.5-x86_64-bin-1of8.iso 5.5/isos/x86_64/CentOS-5.5-x86_64-netinstall.iso 5.5/isos/x86_64/CentOS-5.5-x86_64-LiveCD.iso
And all sha1sum / md5sum / torrent files for the isos.

FYI: My morning rsync from centosq4 downloaded all of 5.5, and then my rsync this afternoon from centosk deleted all of 5.5.
We have run into a network issue between the seed machines which feed K ( and N and V2 ), and I've removed those machines from the msync target.
Apologies for this.

I just completed a "rsync" from "msync.centos.org", and the resulting 5.5 folder has 19G as well. That doesn't seem to be the right size, is it?

Sorry, I stand corrected. This does appear to be the total size. Currenly only the "os" and "isos" folders have data, as is expected, so total size of 19GB seems to be correct. None of the ISOs are missing also.
