Hello,
We have set up new mirror:
bay.uchicago.edu
Supports: http, ftp, rsync
Allows direct DVD download
URLs:
http://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/ ftp://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/ rsync://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/
mirror synchronizes 4 times a day (CDT: 2:33 8:33 14:33 20:33)
Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Bandwidth: about 1 Gbps
Organization: University of Chicago, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics
Mirror provides full collection of CentOS files, including direct download of DVD images.
I also have got questions:
1. which mirror will you prefer me to sync to. At the moment I do:
rsync [bunch of options] us-msync.centos.org::CentOS
2. Do I use appropriate mirror to keep in sync DVD images?
Thanks. Valeri

Are you the responsible person for that mirror (I'd need a mail address at least)?

We have a limit on 40 characters (makes the website look prettier) - can you somehow shorten that? :)

rsync [bunch of options] us-msync.centos.org::CentOS
That is fine, except ...

... if you also want to mirror the CentOS 5 DVDs, you'd need to sync from msync-dvd.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd - but I need the ip address you sync with first to enter an acl for that.
Cheers,
Ralph

yes, I am. I have 3 email addresses:
galtsev@kicp.uchicago.edu (response time about 5 min during work hours, about 15 min the rest of the day) galtsev@oddjob.uchicago.edu and sysadmin@oddjob.uchicago.edu (response time about 30 min during day)
Do you need paper born mail address as well?

I will be coming randomly from each of 3 IPs the machine bay.uchicago.edu has:
128.135.4.9 128.135.52.9 128.135.70.9
Please, let me know when you added us to ACL, then I'll change rsync script. Also: please, let me know if you want us to sync more/less often, or if you want us to sync at particular times. I can add randomization to sync time (please, let me know what do you want that randomization to be). Here is our current rsync schedule (no randomization):
CDT: 2:33 8:33 14:33 20:33
Thanks. Valeri

I took the last one. Thanks.

No, mail is enough :)

ACL is set, it will take a few hours to get to all mirrors. I just added your mirror, that should also show up in a few hours.
And syncing 4 times a day is enough.
Thanks for your support,
Ralph
