The sync seems to be going apace now - we aim to release tomorrow.
Please would mirrors that have synced and have approx 20GB in the centos/5.0/ tree email this list to confirm.
Also if any mirrors are listed on our website as only carrying 3 or 4 or both and want to carry 5 then they will need to let us know to update the database once they have synced.
I wil sort out access to the dvd sync - but I think we need ot stand up another server for that role ...
Thanks

merlin.fit.vutbr.cz is still syncing from eu-msync.centos.org::CentOS, it is extremly slow ~ 25KB/s, should I do this sync from different server (possibly inc DVDs)?
I wil sort out access to the dvd sync - but I think we need ot stand up another server for that role ...
I got several messages:
rsync: failed to connect to msync-dvd.centos.org: Connection refused (111) rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(94)
last 1-2weeks, does this mean just the server has limit of connection and is overloaded or is is some problem?

Try downloading something from mirrors1.kernel.org and see if thats faster - if it is e-mail ftpadmin@kernel.org and we will get you set up with a sync account to kernel.org.

Just wanted to make a note, we are switching from 3, 4 to ALL instead of just 3, 4, 5. 2 is not that big, so I decided we might as well carry it.
We are still doing just i386 and x86_64.

that's on purpose, that's how we got it from the main rsync servers. will "correct" itself when it's all ready.

Thanks

centos.secsup.org || mirrors.secsup.org/pub/linux/centos/5* seem good to go as well... when were the mirrors supposed to be 'opened' to the public?

mirrors1.kernel.org and mirrors2.kernel.org are up to date.
HOWEVER, mirrors1.kernel.org will be offline most of Friday, April 14 California time due to scheduled power work in the co-lo.

BTW: an idea, I am currently testing parchive2 tools to provide small parity file for DVD is of mandriva. This would allow to people either to download small files, either to end an incomplete transfert with a minimal cost. Of course this increase the size of the global mirrors, but 20% of parity block is only 20% of the iso size.
My 2cts

I exclude archs other than i386 from our mirror, but we appear to be synced up with 12G in the centos/5.0/ dir.
ftp://mirror.atlantic.net/pub/centos
http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=13 says we only have 3 and 4.

the bit should flip by itself, if you run a rsync to one of the main mirrors.

Well, that's delayed up until the next rsync cycle. Typically what is done is that a time is announced at which ALL the mirror sites can set an "at" job to flip the bit at the same time, to avoid the problem that some mirrors have it, some not.

Right, but unfortunately most of our mirrors arent in sync yet - and if they flip the bit that would cause problems.
Our website also should only show current mirrors - but current isd in the last 24 hours - so I would expect a lot of slower syncing mirrors to drop off 24 hours after release.
Our mirrorlist and isoredirect systems will only give mirrors that are up to date.

I have seen these a few times since yesterday, is there a problem on the master servers (maybe not totally in sync)?

We're ready at mirror.newnanutilities.org, with the exception of the DVD ISOs, which we're grabbing from the fine and gracious folks at the University of Utah. Thanks utah.edu!

sorry for being late... centos.intergenia.de is in sync for CentOS 5.0 repos. We had some issue regarding permissions of the 5.0 directory but that's fixed and tested now.
Cheers!
