Hi Tru
If you want to take my advise to exceptionally allow the mirror maintained by Leaseweb on the ACL for the mastersource even though they are "latecomers". I am not related in any way to Leasweb but I endorse them for the reason that they truly add value to the project by having a LARGE number of peered networks at the AMS-IX and at other public exchanges and maintain an OPEN peering policy. 100 Mbit constant mirror traffic for them is like 100$ for Warren Buffet so they will not pull the break and won't get cold feet even under much higher peak load.

They have already been granted the ACL access to the msync-dvd servers.
Note: centos.org servers are kindly offered servers, we don't have that many servers around (we just lost one due to missed communication/banner issues)
There is currently 7 msync-dvd hosts (also serving msync) and a total of 30 mirrors servers. Not that much considering the numbers of public mirrors syncing from them. Not all have very large pipes, we are using what we have been offered.
I am trying to only allow new ACL from the largest public servers.

Hi Tru,
We are not currently carrying DVD images of CentOS.
We can carry DVD images - it is not an issue for us. What is an issue for us is synchronising against different mirrors to ensure we always have the up to date images and DVDs.
We would like to carry DVDs if we can gain access to the msync-dvd mirror. We can also provide http, rsync and ftp access to our mirror where required.
Please let me know what your preference is. If you would prefer we remain in our current state then I am happy to do so. If you need another mirror in the apac region carrying everything (even if I extend our mirror to carry 2.x) then I am happy to do so.

Absolutely, if your peers and peers of your peers represent a major group of the APAC CentOS community, it would make sense:
http://www.robtex.com/as/as24557.html#a2
But it would make an equally good case to talk to the people of Pacific Internet (AS7543) to peer with you to the benefit of both your businesses (appearantly you both share the liking of CentOS and that's a good point to get talking) and rsync from them so both of your networks get redundant (and settlement free) access to the much wanted CentOS content of eachother ;-)
Just my 2 cent

That would be great, our database only lists 8 official public mirrors in Australia: 4 regular mirrors (non dvd) and 4 partial (not all arches, or not all versions). None of them has currently direct to the msync-dvd.centos.org primary mirror, but http://mirror.exetel.com.au/pub/centos/ and http://ftp.monash.edu.au are also carrying dvd (maybe from a tier1 public server listed at http://www.centos.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=13)

The ftp.swin.edu.au mirror would like to mirror DVD ISOs, as I mentioned to this list on 1-OCT-2008.
When I rsync from msync-dvd.centos.org::CentOS-incdvd I get:
Unknown module 'CentOS-incdvd'
Is this the correct module? Does 136.186.1.76 has access?

Tru,
I had asked a while ago about getting DVD access so we can mirror them for you as well. I do not recall seeing any replies. What do I need to do in order to have this request granted? I am already pulling DVDs from a different mirror, but would much rather get them 'from the source'. I am mirroring a whole bunch of different things, about 30TB/day and Cent is rather high on the list. Please let me know what information you need in order to process this request.
Thanks,
Patrick

As a note, I'm not opposed to giving tier-2 access to our servers for syncing. We've got all of Centos (including the DVD's), mirrors in both the US and Europe and we sync quite often.
We are already doing tier-2 access for other repos including Fedora so this isn't a stretch for us to extend to other things like Centos.

Depending on load. We are on the East Coast of the U.S. and have dual OC-12 connectivity. We do not impose any bandwidth limitations, so it is either load or somewhere between. If you mail me off-list, I will be happy to verify connections and what we see on this end.
