Have you considered moving to UEFI firmware?

I can confirm that 4.11 works on X-Gene machine as it booted fine on HPe
Moonshot m400 cartridge:

[linaro at c8n1 ~]$ uname -a
Linux c8n1 4.11.0-22.el7.2.aarch64 #1 SMP Thu Sep 14 17:01:49 CDT 2017
aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

My APM Mustang is offline so can not check there.
