If pungi documentation is to be believed, then buildinstall, pkgorder and splittree are still in use. It looks to me that the gather module duplicates what is easily done using yumdownloader. I'm rather disappointed to see that pungi still requires root access to run. I don't understand why that is the case, now that all the .img files included in the image can be built non-root using mksquashfs and cpio/gzip.
