I know this is not a SL mailing list ... :-) SL goes through alphas, betas, RCs before the GA (scheduled for March 2011). The SL developers recommend a fresh install for each test release. For example, during the alpha release, they did a massive rebuild (>200 packages). The version number remained the same, so 'yum update' will not get the rebuilt packages.
